Love at First Sight!

Our Love Story
by Brian and Erin Comstock
It was early July, 1983. Erin had a girlfriend who recommended a jeweler in Edmonds who could help her if she ever needed anything. Her watch was broken. She happened to be downtown Edmonds one day, and she looked for this particular jewelry store. Brian, the jeweler, was going about his day just as any other work day. Then “all of a sudden”, he said, “my life changed. Into the jewelry store walked the most radiant, beautiful young woman who definitely caught my immediate and undivided attention”. Erin said, “it was love at first sight” and she left her watch for repair. A few days later, Brian called to tell Erin her watch was repaired, and then proceeded to ask her out. Out of consideration for the guy she was currently dating, she felt bad that she had to turn Brian down. Erin did offer some encouragement, stating “but we could be friends”.
The very next day, Erin found herself in Edmonds again for no particular reason. As she walked by the jewelry store, she pushed open the door saying, “I just wanted to say hi to my friend”. That’s all the encouragement Brian needed, as he proceeded to ask if she would like to go to lunch as friends. For nearly 2 months, they had lunch together 3 to 4 days a week. “We became the best of friends in a very short period of time”, Brian said, and their feelings for one another grew mutually intense.
Erin broke it off with the guy she had been dating. It just wasn’t working. The next Monday, on one of their friendly lunches, Erin mentioned that she was no longer dating the other fellow. Brian asked, “Well then, maybe we could go on a real date. How about Friday night?” Erin said “That would be fine”. The very next day Brian called to say he couldn’t wait till Friday, and asked if they could make it tomorrow. Erin said, “That’s even better”.
After about two weeks of real dates, Brian asked Erin to marry him. She said yes, and 6 months later they were married.
And now, after 28 years, Brian and Erin are still best friends, still very much in love, and still in the town that brought them together.
